Introducing the Kosovo Government Domain Checker

🇽🇰 Kosovo Government Domain Checker
Lately I’ve been seeing more and more phishing attempts going around.
Stuff like fake "post package arrival" messages, "pay your police fine" pages, and other variations that try to look official. Some of them are honestly convincing enough that if you’re not paying attention, you could fall for it.
Most people here shouldn’t fall for these. But the reality is, a lot of people do. Especially those who aren’t very familiar with how to check if a site is legit or not.
On top of that, Kosovo doesn’t really have a strict or unified domain standard for government services. It’s not as simple as “just trust .gov” like in some other countries. That makes things even more confusing for the average user.
So I built something small to help with that.
How It Works
It’s very simple.
- It checks the domain of the site you’re on against a list of official Kosovo government domains
- If it matches, you get a blue banner saying it’s verified
- If it doesn’t, you get a red warning
That’s it. No clicks, no menus, nothing to configure. It just runs in the background.
It also shows everything in your browser language automatically (English, Albanian, or Serbian).
Who this helps
Anyone can use it, but it’s mainly useful for:
- People who aren’t very technical
- Older users who are more likely to get targeted
- Anyone helping family members or others navigate online services
- Even devs who just want a quick visual check
This isn’t meant to replace security tools. It just makes it obvious when something isn’t official.
Privacy
Everything stays in your browser.
- No tracking
- No analytics
- No requests to any server
- No data collection
It only checks the domain of the page you’re on. Nothing else.
Features
- List of official Kosovo government domains
- Clear visual indicator (verified / not verified)
- Automatic language detection (EN, SQ, SR)
- Works on any site
- Fully offline
- No setup required
Installation
- Download or clone the repository
- Open
chrome://extensions/ - Enable Developer Mode
- Click Load unpacked
- Select the project folder
Done.

If you’ve seen these kinds of fake “official” pages going around, this is just a simple way to double-check what you’re looking at before trusting it.
